2007 annual conference

Our 2007 annual conference takes TOOK place at the Glen Pavilion, Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline on Thursday 26th April 2007.

SEE BELOW FOR SUMMARIES OF THE VARIOUS DISCUSSIONS

The focus of Shared Care Scotland's 2007 Annual Conference was on showcasing good practice and generating new ideas and possibilities for the development of short break and respite services.

The aims of the Conference were:

  • To facilitate networking and the sharing of good practice between carers, cared for people, and those who plan and provide services
  • To provide a ‘market place’ for new thinking and ideas which lead to improvements in service provision

130 delegates attended from all parts of Scotland - a mix of services users, carers and those who provide, commission, plan and make policy on services.  Shared Care Scotland would like to thank the many contributors and workshop leaders who helped to make the day a success.

DELEGATE FEEDBACK...

"Thanks for a fantastic day. Everyone mixed well, the dynamic discussion was a great way of ensuring this.
Very friendly atmosphere and I made many new contacts. This was my first time at such an event and I didn't know what to expect but felt very accepted and very much part of the day."

"My colleague and I attended the conference at the Glen Pavilion and we were both very impressed at the exceptional organisation that made the event, in our opinion, such a success. We would like to congratulate the speakers, workshop presenters, facilitators and reception staff for such an informative and enjoyable day and we hope that we will be able to participate at future events."

"A great day, thoroughly enjoyed it."

"I REALLY enjoyed the conference. One of the best. "

"Wonderful day."

HIGHLIGHTS...

Elspeth Murray was our poet in residence.  Elspeth worked with Shared Care Scotland in the 2 months leading up to the conference, visiting and speaking to carers and service users around the country about their experiences of respite.  These insights provided the inspiration for two poems which Elspeth read out to the conference.  You can read these poems by clicking here. For further information about Elspeth, visit her website: www.elspethmurray.com

Our keynote speaker was Nigel Henderson, Chief Executive of Penumbra.  Click on photo for biography.
