NEW: short break and respite care providers network

Shared Care Scotland facilitates various networks to help support the planning, commissioning and development of short break and respite services.  The Providers Network is aimed at people with day-to-day management responsibility for short break services, normally at a local level.  The purpose of this network is explained below.

First event

TO ALL SHORT BREAK / RESPITE CARE SERVICE MANAGERS…
OUR FIRST PROVIDERS NETWORK EVENT

Where: Albert Halls Stirling
When:  Tuesday 11th May 2010  (re scheduled from March 2nd)

Shared Care Scotland would like to invite you to our first Networking Café event in Stirling on Tuesday 11th May 2010, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

The purpose of this event is to update service managers on the latest policy developments concerning short breaks and respite care, including progress on the Carers Strategy for Scotland, the government’s Concordat commitment to increase respite provision by 10,000 weeks, and other national initiatives to promote and support improved respite care.  The event also aims to give people the opportunity to:

  • Meet others involved with managing short break services to exchange knowledge, views and experiences;
  • Learn from each other’s experience and find out what works in different service areas;
  • Explore the opportunities and challenges facing service providers and consider different options for reshaping services to respond to changing needs, priorities and expectations;
  • Share views on the need for national and/or regional support networks to help you and the services you represent stay in touch with developments.

If you would like to attend please complete and return the attached form.  If you can’t attend but would be interested in coming along to future events, please indicate this on the form.

(NOTE: - If you were booked on to the 2nd March event you will automatically be transferred to 11th May.  We'll write to you to confirm this.)

Much of this first event will be run along the lines of a Networking Café to allow delegates to set the agenda according to their priorities.  For further information on the Café event model please see:  http://www.theworldcafe.com/what.htm

To help us meet the cost of hosting this event we will make a small charge of £20.00.  Places are limited and so to be sure of a place, please respond promptly.
